As I have interned since my freshman year of college, I’ve been able to do a lot of exciting work. My first internship was during my freshman year with the Columbus Cottonmouths, formerly of the Southern Professional Hockey League. I was able to gain mostly hands-on experience there with sales, inventory, game set up, production and fan relations. I’ve been a media relations intern with Auburn University Athletics since my sophomore year, so I’ve been able to do quite a bit of writing involving athletes. Specifically, I’ve done features, Q&As, previews, recaps, weekly NFL updates, transcribed quotes, served as a microphone holder, created roster sheets and completed media guides using Adobe Indesign, updated live scores using Adobe Dreamweaver and even created starting lineup gifs with Adobe Photoshop. Outside of my written work, I’ve also been able to do hands on work such as pregame interview room and press box set up along with post-game teardown, live stats with Stat Crew for our SIDs, official stats for ESPN, working as a spotter for the SEC network, working scoreboards and jumbotrons, handling substitutions for soccer, calling and writing stats for volleyball games, and even a bit of public address announcing. Here is some of my written work.
